Merry Christmas Eve!
Hope all of y’all are enjoying this holiday week and aren’t (too) stressed out. I love the holidays, but some years are easier than other years.
This year will be the second Christmas without my dad. Life without him has gotten easier as time passes, but there are memories and moments that hit me just right and bring back a wave of grief. (I made Chex mix today, and all I could think about for a little while was how much my dad loved Chex mix.)
But, thanks to Christ’s birth, death, burial, and resurrection, we have a hope that goes beyond death.
Hope those of y’all that experienced the snow and Arctic front that slammed a good chunk of the country are staying warm. Today was marginally warmer than yesterday’s frigid temperatures, but not by much.
On the upside, since it’s too cold for the snow to melt, we get to have a white Christmas this year!!! (My husband says this doesn’t quite count—it didn’t technically snow on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. I say I’ll take what I can get. LOL.)
My husband really loves Christmas. It was his idea to string lights and tinsel around the big picture window in our living room two years ago, and I’ve really come to look forward to it every year. Between those lights and our Christmas tree, our living room has a wonderfully cozy feel that brightens December evenings up tremendously.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate at this time of year).
Now, I’m off to snuggle with my little ones and read some stories.
