Fall Update – Kickstarter, Writing News, and More

Wow, have things been crazy busy lately! I didn’t even realize until this week that I never came back here and updated this website to reflect the final outcome of my Kickstarter. (More on that later.) October was nuts, between our very first camping trip as a family over fall break, my Kickstarter, and a handful of other things.

November was even crazier. The ministry my husband and I both work for holds its biggest fundraiser of the year the week before Thanksgiving, and there’s always a lot of work involved on both the front and back ends. It’s always an amazing night full of glorifying the Lord and how He is moving in peoples’ lives, and this year was no exception. On top of that crazy busy stuff, my youngest (who is almost two—I can’t believe she’s that old already!) hit a developmental milestone and went through a sleep regression. Not fun for anybody, her included.

I don’t read a lot of Stephen King (not a big fan of horror, though I think he is an absolutely amazing writer), but he’s got some great quotes. Came across this one this past week and it really struck me.

He said, “The scariest moment is always just before you start. After that, things can only get better.”

Boy, is that true!

You could probably apply that to just about any undertaking in life, but as it pertains to writing, he’s absolutely right. The start of a new project, the blank page staring you in the face—the thought of taking this somewhat nebulous idea of a story in your head and figuring out where to begin and how to start getting words onto paper can be daunting.

Overload: Chapter 3

Here is the third chapter in my upcoming new novel in the Finder series. Enjoy!

In that moment, he looked like what he was—a scared, grieved young man who’d been carrying the weight of the galaxy around on his shoulders for far too long.

“What do I do?” His voice emerged from his throat in a choked whisper. “He can’t—I can’t—”
