Blowback: Chapter 1

Welcome to Blowback, the fifth novel in my Finder space opera detective series! I’m posting the first three chapters as a preview. The book won’t be officially released until the fall, but the Kickstarter campaign for an early copy of the ebook and trade paperback launches tomorrow!

Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1

The lights died in Finder Vince Grable’s small office right in the middle of a conversation he was having with an increasingly hysterical middle-aged woman about a missing family heirloom. Conversations like this weren’t unusual. Vince’s job was to find missing people and things and he was pretty good at it.

The power cutting out on Zyga Space Station, on the other hand? That was unusual.

April Writing Update

Greetings! I hope spring has sprung in your neck of the woods. We had a lovely stretch of warm weather and then everything got cold again. I enjoyed a wonderful couple of days sitting out on the back porch and writing and now I’m back inside looking at the sunshine and green leaves from behind glass.

The weather is driving my children crazy–they just want it to get warm and stay warm. I can relate. LOL.

Ah, well. If there’s one thing you can count on about spring, it’s the fact that it’s an unpredictable season. It’ll get warm (and stay warm) eventually.

Finder Series Update

I have some exciting news to share on the Finder series front. In January (after I sent out the January newsletter) I finished Blowback, the 5th book in the Finder series! Got it off to my beta reader, got it back, and I’m nearly finished with the final draft.

Happy Saturday!

I’m a little behind announcing this, but I have some exciting news to share: the very first omnibus in the Finder series released this week!

Finder series Omnibus #1 contains the first three Finder Vince Grable novels. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this series yet, now’s your chance. (And for a bargain! *grin*)

The ebook edition of Finder Omnibus #1 is available globally here at your preferred store. The trade paperback is available here.

Here’s the back cover copy:

Welcome to the Finder Series! Dive into the first three books in this exciting space opera mystery series set on a space station.

Finder Series Omnibus #1 contains the following three novels:

Head Case

Tall, personable, and brilliant, Vince Grable occupies a hole-in-the-wall office in an unobtrusive corner of the Zyga Space Station. His office boasts plenty of tea, a private airscrubber…and a current shortage of clients.

A Finder by trade, Vince makes his living tracking down missing people and things. Mostly, he locates gamers who lose touch with reality and disappear into the Station’s Core with other people’s money. That changes when a drop-dead gorgeous woman strolls through his door—and promptly falls flat on her face.

Release News: ‘Overload’!

Happy New Year!

Hope 2023 is off to a great start for all of you. Personally, I’ve always liked starting a new year. It’s all fresh and shiny and full of possibilities. (This is the same reason I generally like Mondays, which I know probably puts me in the minority. **grin** But I digress.)

New Release!

I am so excited to announce that Overload, the fourth book in my space opera detective-on-a-space-station Finder series, officially releases today!

We ran a very successful Kickstarter for this book back in October, and now it’s finally available for everyone worldwide. For those of you who supported this Kickstarter, thank you again! Your support means the world to me.

Merry Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Hope all of y’all are enjoying this holiday week and aren’t (too) stressed out. I love the holidays, but some years are easier than other years.

This year will be the second Christmas without my dad. Life without him has gotten easier as time passes, but there are memories and moments that hit me just right and bring back a wave of grief. (I made Chex mix today, and all I could think about for a little while was how much my dad loved Chex mix.)

But, thanks to Christ’s birth, death, burial, and resurrection, we have a hope that goes beyond death.

Hope those of y’all that experienced the snow and Arctic front that slammed a good chunk of the country are staying warm. Today was marginally warmer than yesterday’s frigid temperatures, but not by much.
